As a certified and registered occupational therapist, Caron Faherty created Southern Occupational Therapy Products., Inc. in 1999, and opened a clinic in Jensen Beach FL in 2000, specializing in upper extremity injuries, orthotic fabrication, and obtained a patent for a device, Rist-Rest, to assist in the prevention of, or reduce the discomfort caused by carpal tunnel syndrome. Caron performs Functional Capacity Evaluation exams at a clinic in Stuart and one in Port St. Lucie to determine the ability of injured workers and their ability to return to work, either in a previous capacity, a modified capacity or if the evaluation determines the client is not able to return to work at that time and may seek disability compensation,
Prior to opening the clinic in Jensen, Caron was recruited in 1995 to start up an Occupational Therapy Department at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Ft Pierce. This department grew from a department of two to a department of eighteen; including SNF, in-patient, outpatient, and inpatient rehab. Work history involves pediatric therapy in school system; rehab clinic startups in Ft. Lauderdale and Hollywood FL.
Caron graduated from Palm Beach State College in 1977 with AS in Occupational Therapy and AA in Fine Arts. Graduating Phi Beta Kappa allowed her to receive scholarship funding to Florida International
University to achieve a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1979. About five years later, Caron enrolled and subsequently graduated from Barry University with a master's degree in clinical psychology in 1990.
